CMNZ champions of quiz at fundraising event

Convention Management New Zealand were the undisputed 'champions of quiz' at a Quiz Night held recently at Orakei Bay to support Hands Across the Water - a charity supporting disadvantaged children in Thailand, including many who were victims of the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami.

Despite the large number of fundraising events held in Auckland during August, about 200 conference and travel industry people turned out to a night of hilarity and hospitality. ProMag Publishing's Trish Freeman has signed up, for the second time, to HATW's annual 800km bike ride through Thailand in January 2012. To be accepted onto the ride Freeman has committed to raising AUD $10,000. A huge proportion of this was raised during the quiz night - NZ$9256.50.

Major sponsors of the event were the venue, Orakei Bay; quizmasters Jacob Feenstra from Hilton Auckland and Liam Taylor, Exclusive Events; Edwards Sound Systems and Desiree Costume Hire. Auction items were sponsored by: World Resorts of Distinction's Andaman White Beach Resort and Vijitt Resort, Novotel Rotorua Lakeside, The Radio Network, Sony and Publishing Group, publishers of My Wedding and Let's Travel magazines.
